WILD THING YOGA - Deanne Oliver-Pickard.
DJ & yogi.
Deanne trained as a professional dancer from the day she could stand up on her own two feet & slipped them into a pair of ballet shoes; specializing in ballet, jazz & contemporary until aged 19, when she unfortunately had a car accident that left her with a neck & lower back injury. She turned to a course of yoga guided by her Mother (Shropshire based Ashtanga, Hatha & Vinyasa flow teacher for the past 18 years) to work through these injuries and has been practicing various forms of yoga for over 10 years now on & off.
Deanne trained & worked as an actress before moving into the field of music where she has been working as a DJ, playing an array of funk, soul, disco & house music in festival fields, events & mega parties around the globe for the past 8 years.
Also working to curate one off events with fashion brands & a very close relationship with the charity: Fashion Targets Breast Cancer in which she was an ambassador for 4 years & hosted a number of big start studded fundraising events in London.
A health conscious veggie & keen to strike more of a balance between late nights under glitter balls & on the yoga mat, Deanne took herself off to India and undertook one of the greatest experiences of her life to date; Ashtanga Vinyasa YTTC 200 hour training and since returning from the Goan jungle has been teaching tailored 1:1 flow sessions both at her home studio & in various London based locations most days, with a packed out weekly candlelit Vinyasa flow class in Hackney, sessions at Shoreditch House, East Of Eden, Coate Studios, regular corporate sessions with Exercise In The City and a list of exciting collaborations in the pipeline, as well as a series of seasonal Urban Day Retreats with Happy Heads (mindfulness coach) at Reva Yoga Studios, Broadway Market.
Deanne is also the face and body of a forward thinking mindfulness campaign that launched recently within the NHS which see's her guiding weekly mindful yoga classes to members of the Hackney community and being part of the bigger Nationwide campaign to bring more awareness to Mental Health.
Deanne teaches intuitively and from the heart, creatively enjoying planning classes and working with themes but more often than not prefers spontaneity, drawing from the energy in the room and the needs of those in the space.
Deanne teaches vinyasa flow, hatha, restorative & yin styles of yoga that are open to all levels, with a deep focus on the depth of breath - marrying this to the fluidity of movement, intuitively connecting body, mind and soul.
All are welcome in classes, offering a relaxed, safe & nurturing space always.
